A 23-year-old San Jose Succotz man is in police custody after he chopped his own grandmother and received a village vigilante beatdown for it. ASP Smith explained that the accused is alleged to have been experiencing mental health issues:

"Police have detained a 23-year-old male of San Jose Succotz in connection with a chopping incident which resulted in the grievous harm of a 62-year-old relative of that male person. The investigation commenced on Saturday 1st August at around 7:30 p.m. when police were alerted of the incident at a residence in the village. The elderly female was rushed for medical attention where she is now listed in a stable condition. Efforts by police and community members led to the apprehension of the male person who is in custody. What we have learned so far is that the male person may have been undergoing a mental healthcare crisis, and when the female relative sought to aid him she was injured."
