The Bliss Center for the Performing Arts celebrated it's official opening this weekend with shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Channel 7 participated with a record 9 1/2 hours of live coverage. And while it was live almost around the clock, here are a few highlights of what you didn't have a chance to see on the broadcast and what you wouldn't mind seeing again.

Alfonso Noble Reporting,
Opening night at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts drew out the 'A-list' of Belize's official world led by the Governor General.

Greeting guests at the door were Prime Minister Said Musa, Finance Minister Ralph Fonseca, and Culture Minister Mark Espat. They waited for Mexico's Foreign Affairs secretary Dr. Luis Ernesto Derbez who was taken on a tour of the building by NICH President Yasser Musa.

But the real purpose of the night was to see the host of talents assembled for the evening. And those inside the VIP seating rose for a rousing rendition of the National Anthem followed by speeches.

Hon. Mark Espat, Minister of Culture
"We are offering a broader, a more inclusive, more tolerant humanistic approach to education. We are launching a journey of a new creative and artistic thought. We are shaping character, we are designing our own destiny."

Hon. Said Musa, Prime Minister
"I see the Bliss Center as a part of the people's culture."

From there the political leaders relinquished the microphone to the popular leaders like the grandmaster to Frankie Reneau and Nelita Castillo to Lord Rhaburn.

And while they stole Friday's show - on Saturday international night - the Garifuna All star band performed for the first time in Belize and Parandero Paul Nabor stole the show. And while he closed Saturday with that stirring performance, on the next night Evan X Hyde's play 'John John' took center stage.

Organizers at the Bliss Center hope to have some select encore performances on Friday night - and we'll tell you when they've finalized the agenda.
