They are on the frontline in every office but still administrative professionals who you may know as secretaries don't get the R-E-S-P-E-C-T they deserve.

So for the past 52 years a day has been set aside to honor these professionals and the invaluable work they too. That day was today and about 100 took the day, kicked back, and participated in a seminar on balancing personal and professional priorities. President of the Association of Administration Professionals is Minelia Gomez.

Minelia Gomez, President Administrative Professionals Assoc.
"We no longer sit down and type and answer the phone, we do much more than that. We schedule meetings, set up training sessions, we order the supplies for our companies, and we even do the deals with the technicians and do a lot of desktop publishing. Most of the times we are on the frontline dealing with the customers and they judge our company based on the professionalism we show."

Keith Swift,
"Do you think administrative professionals get the respect they deserve?"

Minelia Gomez,
"I personally can say that at my company I receive that respect but I know there are many administrate professionals who do this work and they are not recognized."

A disappointing aside is that while there are literally hundreds of administrative professionals in Belize, only 15 are active members of the association.
