It is called the Freetown Education and Opportunity Center.
That is an ambitious name and Freetown Area Representative Hon. Francis Fonseca says its mission will be just as big.
The center was opened this afternoon by Fonseca who also happens to double as the Minister of Education. He told us the opportunities that will be offered at the center.

"The center is going provide computer services, books, a library, Internet, and a TV and Video Room which will allow us to show documentaries and educational programs. Also we have a ping-pong table, and other little board games like Chess, which are all positive recreation. It should be open everyday from 2 to 9 in the evenings and on Saturdays from 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon."
"I do believe that it is a very dire need. We need a place for young people to go after school where they can some supervised form of tutoring, access to computers to do their homework, and access to retired teachers. I must say a lot of retired teachers who live here in Belama and a lot of teachers who live here have volunteered their services already to teach arts and craft, to teach dance lessons, to have exercise classes, to teach music, so I have been very moved by the support we have gotten for the center."
The Freetown Education and Opportunity Center is located on Chetumal Street in Belama right behind the police station.
