It's been a while, 6 years to be precise, since the village of Sandhill has chosen its own Queen of the Bay. In fact since 1998 Candy Milligan has been wearing the village's crown and her reign will finally come to an end tomorrow. In line to take over the crown are six young ladies who will take to the stage in the village's community center tomorrow night. We caught up with three of the contenders and they told us why it will be worth your drive to head to Sandhill for tomorrow night's pageant.

Gayle Vacarro, Contestant
“Well this is something that I’ve always wanted to do from I was a little girl and my mother used to say that she would send me up for some pageant and when our Chairman came around and asked if I wanted to go up I was like oh yes please I would love that.”

Ervin Milligan, Sandhill Village Chairman
“It is the return of the Sandhill pageant because for six years we haven’t had such a prestigious event and I want to say that the young ladies they were really anxious and not only anxious but they were overwhelmed with joy when they had the opportunity to come back show off their talent.”

Jacqueline Jones, Contestant
“It is something I wanted to do for a while because I always admired when I used to see them on the stage and them showing their talent and their poise and their pretty dress and everything.”

“I am excited and I just feel nervous right now.”

Darena Rodriguez, Contestant
“Since its been 6 years since they had something like this I think it would be a nice experience so they can see what Sandhill has to offer. We have the beautiful teenagers and young ladies and after that they are having the dance so we can bash it up after that.”

The pageant begins Saturday night at 7pm. Tickets are $7 for adults. A dance will follow at the Community Center.
