Aside from television programming with illusionists such as David Copperfield and David Blane, Belizeans don't usually get to see magicians at work. Well that was until now when as part of a charity organization's efforts to raise funds for underprivileged children in Belize they have invited a bona fide illusionist to perform in Belize. Master magician and illusionist, James Kellogg junior is in town and today he held a mini-show for the children at the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Center and we got a chance to see the masterful sleight of hand that Belizean audiences will be treated to:

“We have been working towards raising funds in order to help Central America. Right now our focus is Belize where I have been donating and volunteering a lot of my time here at the Dorothy Menzies Home. We have brought in James Kellogg from the States who has offered to do shows in order to fund raise help the children of Belize."

"I was contacted by Femi who is involved with the Liberty Foundation and she asked me to come down and what would I charge? And I said I’m not going to charge you anything, I’m there. And heard about the kids and the homes they are building for them and if I can help out build the Belizean homes and they’ll be there for 10’s and 10’s and 50 years and all the kids it’s going to help it’s a wonderful blessing that I can give. Very much so, very much so.”

“The shows, Ohh, they are going to be big shows. You are going to be really mystified. I’m going to do some things that they’ve never seen before obviously. If I give you too much then… I’m going to bring some birds down and for the magic show I’m going to do some magic right in front of the audience. I’m going to walk down to people and make things happen right before their eyes within inches of their eyes.”

“Hypnosis is great, it’s going to be a lot of fun. I don’t know if anybody has ever seen it but I do both sides of hypnosis. There is therapeutic side I’m a hypnotherapist and that’s the seriousness where people want to loose weight or stress management or sleep better. Then there is the entertainment side so that’s what we are going to do, the entertainment side. I’m going to make them think that their belly-button is falling out on the ground and they are going to go pick it up and put it back on and they are going to have a lot of fun.”

The shows will be held on Saturday night at the bliss center for the performing arts. The first show will be for children and adults and the second will be for adults. Proceeds of the shows will go to the Dorothy Menzies childcare center.
