Buzz Aldrin, you might not know him by name but in 1969 Aldrin made space travel history when he landed on the moon and was one of the first American astronaut to walk on the moon. And now, the 75 year old has made his way to Belize. Buzz Aldrin is out on San Pedro as part of the Sea Space Symposium. It is exactly what it sounds like a meeting of divers and astronauts. Our colleague at the San Pedro Sun Ron Sniffin caught up with the legendary space and sea traveler last night.
Buzz Aldrin,
"This is a diving group that was originally formed in 1970. I was a charter member and we come down twice a year to a very interesting diving location and the name of the group is the Sea Space Symposium. Some people from the ocean get together with people from the space and we dive together twice a year for about three years and we have technical session where we talk about things that are new and are happening in the ocean and things that are new that are happening in space. I come here as often as I can because there's some lots of good friends that I see twice a year that I've been seeing for 35 years now."
The Sea Space Symposium was declared open last night by BTB Chair Therese Rath.
