Michael Finnegan Undergoes Colon Surgery

Most times when public figures, especially politicians get seriously ill it's a "big secret." But not with Michael Finnegan. He today confirmed to us that he this morning underwent a procedure to remove a significant growth inside his intestine, and more than that, he's going to become a crusader against colon disease. Finnegan told us that this morning, he went in for a non-invasive procedure at the Universal Medical Surgical Center and is at home convalescing tonight. Finnegan says that after years of being unwell, last week Dr. Neil Garbutt and Dr. Ervin Gabourel diagnosed the problem as a growth in his intestine. That growth, which is believed to be benign, was burnt off with a laser in this morning's procedure but Finnegan says it's only the beginning for him. So grateful is he for the new lease on life that he says he will host a special 'Lik Road' when he returns in three weeks with his doctors to tell everyone about the procedure and to urge men who are over 50 to have a colonoscopy exam performed.
