It is a show called "Children, Children" but it is businessmen, managers, and other movers and shakers in the community who will lead the all star cast. The musical play for the family is being presented by the Rotary Club to raise funds for their Gift of Life program and the Salvation Army. Incoming Rotary President Sandra McKay says it will be 90 minutes of laughter for a good cause.
Sandra McKay, Incoming Rotary Children
"The entire family should come out and the reason being the roles of children will be performed by adults. Now can you imagine me in a school uniform, I think you saw me yesterday you said with my socks, my tennis, and my bow in my hair, and so on. Rotarians are members of the business community so you're going to see bank managers, business owners, business managers, you're go to see a lawyer; you're going to see members of the business community acting like Standard 6 kids. That in itself, as you see us, is laughter and at the play itself you will get a lot of audience participation because some of the songs, the folk songs that we sing in Belize, will be very familiar and we encourage the audience to join in and participate. Therefore everybody should come: your grandmother, your mother, your father, your sister, your brother, your uncle, your cousin, your aunt, your friend, your neighbor; everybody can come out and they'll be guaranteed a night of good clean thoroughly enjoyable entertainment."
"So many persons are just stressed out, are just distressed, feeling various kinds of emotions contrary to happiness and joy and laughter. That is what we will be bringing to the Belizean community this weekend and that is the reason we are saying bring out everybody. For a change let us sing, let us laugh, let us just lay aside the problems for a couple of hours and just totally enjoy ourselves knowing that because you contributed to such a cause, some child will have the gift of life because these surgeries that the monies are used for is a matter of life and death so all the more reason why everybody should come out."
Children, Children runs throughout the weekend at the Bliss Center. There will be a show on Friday beginning at 8 pm and two shows on Sunday at 3 and 7 pm.
