It took them an entire week but today the Teachers' Union via a press release called last week's unrest on the grounds of the University of Belize in a Belmopan a "disgraceful and infamous black day." The union writes that the unprovoked attacks on their members by security forces was disgraceful. The union also rushed to the defense of Collet Area Representative Patrick Faber who was now infamously roughed up and then arrested by police officers. Faber is, of course, also a teacher at ACC. In his support the union writes that the disrespect will not blow over quietly and they warn that it won't go unchallenged. The union writes that the positive in all this is the increasing militance and involvement of university students in the national discourse.
