They turned part of Pickstock Street's infamous "pink jungle" into a church last year, and now a group of missionaries are back in Belize for another Inner City Experience. They call themselves "ICE" and they traveled from Tampa, Florida this year to put finishing touches on the Assembly of God Church on Pickstock Street, paint the Youth Hostel, and construct a new house for a family in Maypen Village. The missionaries are here for 14 days and Senior Pastor Greg Dumas says they are back to finish what they started.
Greg Dumas, Senior Pastor
"Thousands and thousands of dollars going into this in both material and labor but what's happening here on Pickstock Street is we're building a church. Last year there was a trash heap here, they called this place the jungle, and so we came, cleaned it, and completely built the church. We're coming back now to do some restoration building a fence up front, we're building a concrete walkway, we're doing landscaping and we're also painting the building to beautify the whole area."
Keith Swift,
Why did you choose to have your inner city experience in?
Greg Dumas,
"Well David Crawford has been here as a missionary most of his life. He has a really deep compassionate heart for the people here and all of these children, all of these children of the next generation, who are in this part of the country and this portion of the city, we just want to be a help to."
There are 80 missionaries in total working on the three projects.
