Rizden Clare. He's the young dub poet who made waves with the breakthrough music video for his song 'Better Dayz.' Now, a year after his debut, Rizden is back. He is still working on the album but Rizden has a new video. It's called "My Cry" featuring Tricia "Sweet Tea" Lovell. Rizden stopped by our studios today and told Keith Swift how he cries through his music.
Rizden Clare,
"If I had could get people to feel sad and cause a shame because injustice brings around sad emotion from deep within and hence the reason why I write this song, My Cry, and this is the way that I feel. I feel as if though you have cry out and show them what I am seeing which have me wanting to cry so you have to reach out with something to touch that part of society to get the change which we need to get off the street and get some change in our society.
I cry with the words because they come from deep within my soul. Anything that comes from within the soul has to be something real when it touches the pen, paper, or mic so that is what I cry for.
The reason why me as an artist step out to this side of the music industry, or the music scene, is because the other side already consists of a whole lot of secular artists and the message that is getting across causes the effect which exists today. It has everybody focusing on one thing: 'I gotta get this or I gotta get that' but while they are doing that they are not paying attention to the stuff that needs to be paid attention to. So if I could depict these aspects that are being neglected then perhaps some other artists will turn around and say we gotta highlight this because if we highlight this then we will make the change that we need in our society to better us all."
The video was directed by Nigel Freeman at Clasique Productions.
