Today Isabel Garbutt did something only a handful of Belizeans have ever done, she celebrated her 101st birthday. 'Miss Bell' as she is known was born in Dangriga on July 7th of 1905. 101 years later Miss Bell, who only gave birth to one child, celebrated her 101st year in the company of a couple dozen of her closest friends at the Helpage Center in Belize City. 7NEWS was there to wish the centenarian "happy birthday."

Isabel Garbutt, 101 years old
"I feel great. I feel great. I have come a long way but I wasn't alone and I thank all my beloved friends and neighbors that they may live to see this golden year today."
Keith Swift,
Any advice to young people?
Isabel Garbutt,
"I hope many of them would see what is going on and keep up themselves so they can get to what I am getting today. I have come a long way for this but thanks and praise the Lord. I am here."
Keith Swift,
Did you have any children?
Isabel Garbutt,
"One and he died. I didn't have anymore but I raised 25 children."
Records indicate that miss bell is the third oldest living Belizean. The famous Viola Myles is the oldest known to us; she is 103 years old.
