Kenroy Williams is known on the streets as "Kendawg." The 26 year old says he became a man on those streets and though he has since moved on and is now working a 9 to 5, his life through Petticoat Alley as a teenager is the bedrock inspiration for his debut album: 'Made on the Streets.' Kendawg has just completed 2 months of work on his first music video for the song "Guns in Belize." He dropped by our studio today and showed and told us about how he hopes to change the streets through rap.
Kenroy Williams, 'Kendawg'
"The reason we shot this video is because we want to get a good message across about the usage of guns. It is being used in a wrong way, instead of protecting people, it is being used for respect, macho man, retaliation---Belize is already messed up and now to guns circulating on the street is something bad.
You have to watch this thing. It is like a real story from the beginning to the end.
I haven't been affected by the usage of guns but I see how it affects families; mothers crying, kids bawling. People need their families and that is how it is. We need this gun thing to stop because innocent people are getting hurt. They retaliate and thing but they aren't hurting one man, it is a whole group of families.
I am not glorifying the use of guns. I am showing what the way they are using the guns in the street makes no sense at all. I can't stop the guns from coming into the country but then maybe what I could do is have them ease up."
