The industry of the Mennonite communities in Belize is well known. But while the Mennonite men-folk may be famous for their dairy and poultry products which feed Belizeans every day, don't doubt on the hard work done by the Mennonite women. For the next two days, the cultural traditions that they've been preserving will be on display at the House of Culture where the Spanish Lookout Women's Group will be displaying their famous hand-made quilts. We stopped by for a preview.

"We like to make our own quilts and we see that we cannot make that much as we would enjoy to make so we found that some people were interested in those quilts so we started to make quilts to sell. Everybody is welcome to come and see and buy our quilts."

Alfonso Noble,
How many varieties of quilts do you have? Do you have large ones, small ones, and what are the uses for the quilt?

"We have different sizes, single beds, double beds, and queen's size, king's size, and there are thirty different quilts. We have wall hangings."

The show opens tomorrow and runs until Saturday.
