He had a controversial death but for the past three years the family of Eder Alamilla has been honoring his memory with summer art classes. Yesterday the third annual Eder Alamilla Memorial Art Camp began at the Bliss Center. 200 children are participating and they are led by 25 volunteers. Leading the list of volunteers Is Ian O'Keefe who is Eder's nephew.
Ian O'Keefe,
"The camp is just striving towards underprivileged kids so they could have something to do for the summer. It is in memory of uncle, Eder Martin Alamilla. He was a young artist and then he was killed and so we just took over the camp in his name."
Emaun Hyde,
How long has the camp been going on?
Ian O'Keefe,
"The camp has been going on for three years with us but it went on three years at the House of Culture. He started it with Lita Krohn and William Neal."
The camp runs for two weeks and interested children can still show up at the Bliss.
