19 chefs and 9 bartenders competed but after a day of cooking and a night of tasting – only three emerged with top prizes from this year’s Taste of Belize. The culinary contest was held on Saturday night at the Radisson Hotel. The chefs and bartenders competed in categories for the professional chef, young professional, and the bartender. Jason de Campo from Global Spice Restaurant won the night’s most prestigious award for professional chef. Patricia Lopez – who you saw winning as the young professional is from Cayo Espanto.

Patricia Lopez, Winner – Young Professional
“I am happy. It feels good. Well being my first year and it was kind of nervous seeing the people there asking you questions and you’re sweating and judges coming around but then something inside me say take account and I did it.”
