For the first time, the Rotary Club of Belize is inviting you to be a part their largest fundraisers of the year. But you don’t need to go into your pocket for a contribution, all you need to do is aspire to the stage. The Rotary is having an open casting call for a play called “Oliver and the Genie.” Auditions start on Wednesday and the Rotary is calling on the public to join in the fun.
Sandra McKay, Rotary Club
“We have helped hundreds of children and this is our way of fundraising to make sure we can sustain that program. So we are inviting the Belizean public this year to be a part of the cast of the next play. It is called Oliver and the Genie, one of Patrick Brown’s production out of Jamaica so you know it is the same type of musical comedy content. There is going to be dancing and singing so you need to have that kind of talent.
It is not a must but if you want to be in the cast that does that part of the production, then fine. If not you can still be filling other roles. The open auditions will held tomorrow, Wednesday 6 pm at St. Catherine’s Auditorium. So any member of the public can come and audition and hopefully they will get the part. The director is Jamie Thompson and Jamie has been assisting us for the past two or three years.”
Rehearsals will run for two months for four days a week. If you would like to be a part of the production, remember auditions start tomorrow night at St. Catherine’s auditorium at 6:30p.m.
