13 outstanding citizens will be honoured tonight at the Tribute to Belizean Patriots. The event starts at the Bliss Center and it will start in the next few minutes – but for those who can’t be there, it will be aired live on Channel 7 right after tonight’s newscast.
Here’s what you can expect to see; there are four types of honours, the most prestigious is national hero and that’s going posthumously to Phillip Goldson – who will join George Price as Belize’s only other national hero. His son Phillip Jr. is expected to accept it on his behalf. The second highest honour, and the one previously held by Goldson is the Order of Belize, and that is being conferred upon two-term Prime Minister Manuel Esquivel. Orders of distinction will go to Lois Young, Godwin Hulse, and Leigh Richardson.
Meritorious service awards will go to grenade hero, BDF Major James Requena, baker Zebedee Pitterson, unionist George Frazer, as well as Agripina Espejo, Elito Urbina, Dolores Lin, Modesto Madril, and Victor August. Again, you can see it all live right here on Channel 7, right after 7NEWS.
