After the official ceremony on Sunday you can head to the old Technical College compound for the City Council’s annual multicultural fair. Gates open tomorrow at 11 am and close at 7:30 pm. Mayor Moya says the highlights will be soda biscuit eating contests and the battle of the bands.

Soft drink drinking contest, you’ll have a lot of different contests, punta rock contest, you’ll have beer drinking contest, watermelon eating contests – so a lot of competitions will be there. We’ll have of course a lot of foods and drinks, foods from all the different ethnic groups. We will also have a lot of live entertainment. We’ll have Supa G, artist of the year, we’ll have Leelah Vernon, Kenny Gladden and the New Creation Band, we’ll have Titti Man and his Punta Rockers, we’ll have the Lord Rhaburn himself.
We’ll have the Battle of the Band competition. Now this battle of the band competition we had it last year and it was a huge success. This year we’re having it again and we will have the defending champion Kenny Gladden and the New Creation Band will be there to defend their title. They will be competing against Poots the Tittiman Flores and his Punta Rockers Band, you have again Leelah Vernon and the Baymen’s Clan, you have Player’s Band, you have the Danger Zone Band, you have the young Patriots, they will be there, so you have a number of bands that will be competing.”
