Car clubs are the newest rave in Belize. We got a taste of it at the Wicked Rides Show at Old Belize in August. But that was nothing compared to what went down in Chetumal this weekend at the Corona Car Show. The Dynamiq and Xclusive Auto Clubs who were bitter opponents in August, competed under one banner – the Belizean flag. The motorcade of 14 speed demons drove up to Chetumal on Saturday evening for the show on Sunday morning. At the show size didn’t matter – speed and style did. They competed against Mexico’s best in 14 categories and brought home 4 trophies. It’s not bad for a first try and Dynamiq’s President Rhon Lecky told us why there’s reason to celebrate.

Rhon Lecky,
“We brought home a total of four trophies. We came second place in SPL, second and third place. We came second for trucks. That was between Dynamiq and Xclusive which entered. Between Dynamiq and Xclusive we brought home four trophies total. Basically it showed us that we need to try and bring this culture more to Belize because it really brought a lot of positive vibes. They were bringing people from all over Mexico to come in for this competition and it was well recognized, it was a well recognized event. People came out from all over just to support it and it started from the day before and basically everybody was all hyped up until after midnight when we left.

It felt really good. We were even saying that it is rare when Belize goes across to any foreign country and brings back something but we, as a culture that people consider new to Belize, to just go over there and really represent Belize and come back and get such good feedback and actually come back with medals and trophies showing that we did something positive for our country. I felt very proud.”

Dynamiq’s Rhon Lecky and Dinsdale Zelaya won trophies for the sound pressure level testing. Xclusive Car Club won trophies for truck tuning and amateur truck. A third Belizean auto club - the Ry A Car Club showed up but didn’t participate. The participation of Dynamiq was with the help of Atlantic Bank, Atlantic Insurance, and Karl H. Menzies. The next competition will be in November. For more on the club visit Dynamiq Auto Club.
