All roads will lead to Benque this weekend. That is where Love FM will be staging its fourth band fest. According to the organizers it promises to be bigger and better in 2009 as at least thirteen marching bands will be competing Saturday for the grand title and prizes.

“So much better. Lots more bands that are taking part, lots more prizes that will be given away, and so it is really really great.”

Since this competition started, are you guys surprised by the response you’ve been receiving?
Julio Carrillo,
“Well at first we were but I think it is like a fever that has caught on, marching bands. And while it is not that surprising, it is, we love it because of the fact that that was the plan of band fest. We wanted more marching bands to begin to be seen again. For a while we hadn’t been seeing marching bands and so that was the whole idea for band fest and we love the response. We have 16 marching bands taking part. Of that 16, 13 are competing. 8 in the drum corp category and five in the wind instrument category.”
