Dara Robinson is a dedicated community activist whose mission is to feed school children. We’ve shown you his feeding programmes before, and he hopes to stockpile some supplies over the Christmas holidays with the help of a fundraiser that’s planned for tomorrow night. And so he’s turning to soul music legend Otis Redding. As you may know Dara’s events are usually built around music, usually Bob Marley or Lucky Dube, but this time he’s turning to Otis, he told us why.

Dara Robinson, Promoter
“This event will include a tribute to Otis which people for the first time will get to see this man in action on the big screen. Along with the tribute you will also have a live show which I have with Percy Sledge live so that will be part of the tribute. Following that I have Albert Robinson who will do a karaoke thing. He will Otis and if anybody wants to challenge he, we will have a little prize for them. And immediately following the tribute and the karaoke and then a dance. The reason for this show is like I said all the time on the media and thing to let Belizeans notice that we need to help those kids. It doesn’t matter from where but we need to help kids that are in need.

So I have to come up with my own vision and what I do best are tributes, people come and support it. I usually ask for canned foods but if the show crowded and that doesn’t work, they happy that the show gaan good but I feel bad because my purpose is to raise food.

We just can’t left things and now that kids are suffering out because we ignore them, later on those same kids will grow up and harm we because when you hungry it doesn’t matter, if you want to eat you will do anything to survive.”

The event is tomorrow night at the MCC Tennis court and tickets are $10 for singles and $15 for couples.
