For most of us, talking a walk-in downtown Belize City is simple enough, just make sure you don't bump into the homeless people sleeping in the planters.

But, for visitors, there's now going to be an app, specifically an "Online Digital Walking Tour Map Mobile Application (App) for downtown Belize City (Regents and Albert Streets), the main hub of its new Ecomuseum." Ecomuseum…WOW, sounds high tech.

The Taiwanese funded project today signed a transfer document for the mobile app and the licensed documentary film over to the Ministry of Toruism.

So why an app? And how does it work? Well, a release says the key feature of the App is to highlight the various historical sites along Regent and Albert Streets and, quote, "utilizing an integrated google map real time tracker, the visitor would be able to do a virtual tour or use the App to do a self-guided tour of the Ecomuseum."

The source code for the app was provided by Taiwan ICDF's technical support team and today it was handed over to the CEO of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yashin Dujon, witnessed by ambassador Remus Chen.

The Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project is scheduled to be completed on October 9th, 2020.
