Belize City was alive on Saturday with the colorful sights and celebratory sounds of the motorcade to honor our very own Miss Earth, Destinee Wagner.

She's the first Belizean to ever win an international pageant and only the second black woman ever to be crowned Miss Earth. And Belizeans have embraced the triumph of the girl who calls PG home.

But ahead of the motorcade, Destinee Wagner spoke via Zoom with our Sunup hosts on Friday expressing her apprehension at being the center of all this attention.

And there will be another motorcade for Destiny in the north this weekend as Sugar city honors this Belizean Queen with three days of events.

She also received an enormously warm welcome in her hometown Punta Gorda, where the street she grew up on has now been re-named in her honor.
