They were designated for Queen's Honors from before the UDP government left office - but a queen's cohort of outstanding Belizeans just got their official regal credentials handed to them yesterday at the George Price Center in Belmopan. They were joined by those who received honors in 2021 - making for a total of 12 persons.
The appointments for Ordinary Officers of the British Empire, or (O.B.E) include Dr. Marvin Manzanero, for contribution to public health and public service; Judith Alpuche, for contribution to social work and public service; and Penny Casasola, for services to community and health education volunteerism.
Appointments for Ordinary Members of the British Empire or (M.B.E) include Ambassador Lou-Anne Burns Martinez, for contribution to foreign service and public service; Compol Chester Clyde Williams, for contribution to public security and public service; attorney Elisa Nayeli Montalvo, for contribution to public service and the field of law; Brigadier General Steven Ortega, for contribution to public security and public service; hairdresser Mapye Smith, for contribution to entrepreneurship and community service; Alex Chang, for contribution to entrepreneurial leadership and community; and Legendary DJ, "Fawda Stone" Elden Hyde, for contribution to Music; and cable entrepreneur Pedro A Salazar, for contribution to community activism.
Also the insignia for the late Ambassador "Elito" Urbina, Sr., who was conferred M.B.E. for his contribution to education and political leadership, was received by his family.
