The Anglo-Guatemalan Treaty establishing Belize's borders was signed on April 30, 1859 and to commemorate that date, every year the Belize Territorial Volunteers go back to country's cornerstone at the Cape Gracias à Dios Falls.
And they're going back again this year - undaunted by the occasional turbulence on the rover caused by the Guatemalan navy.
The location will once again be the limestone pyramid on the north bank of the Sarstoon River at the rapids of Gracias à Dios. They are going to hold a Mahogany Tree Planting ceremony, along the border, where they say hundreds of trees have been planted by Belize Territorial Volunteers since 2008 when the BTV made its first trip to Gracias à Dios.
