Yesterday, you heard a little about the importance of preserving the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. The Forest Department invited stakeholders and students to hear about the cultural, commercial, and recreational benefits of the forest reserve, and what it takes to keep it alive and thriving.

For the Mayas, that means giving back to the forest as much as they take from it, while for the resorts it means operating in a sustainable way to cause as little damage as possible. And then there are those who restore and reforest. Courtney Menzies heard all angles from those who both benefit and take care of the reserve. Here is that story.
