And hours after the wreath laying, Henry Charles Usher was on Pickstock Street along with the Belize City Council. That was the street George Price grew up on, in his family home, where he also eventually died. And finally, that street has been cemented. Today, the mayor told us that it was about time, since the previous condition had cars avoiding the street as much as possible. We don't know that the austere Mr Price would have been too bothered by that, but the Mayor says he would be pleased:

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City

"It really captures everything George Price is all about, about service, and it's not only the fact that his residence is on this street but the main fact is about giving back to the people in this community and for years, I was made to understand just a short while ago that the last time this street got fixed was 30 years ago. And so it's just part of the whole process of just continuing to improve streets and infrastructure in the city. There's over 700+ streets, we want to make an impact in ensuring that we have decent streets in the city."

"It was horrible, I am certain you would drive on this street in the past, I used to drive on it and any time I reach North Front Street, the corner of Pickstock and North Front Street, I would continue on to access New Road, so to be able to now bring it straight across here, it serves its purpose."
