The Lobsterfest on Land

Lobster season opens on Monday and for the tourism sector that means a summer spike in the arrival of visitors looking for the prized shellfish.

And that's where lobster fest comes in. What started out as a fundraiser in Caye Caulker has now gone national as a staple of the tourism summer season. Earlier this week we showed you how they are preparing for it in San Pedro and Caye Caulker, and yesterday Courtney Menzies went to Placencia to see how they cook it up on the peninsula.

Lobster is expected to retail for $30 a pound at the start of the season.
