Gales Point Manatee of the Cradle of Belize's kriol culture and its Christmas Bram and Sambai are getting major international recognition. They have been nominated to be inscribed by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It will be a part of the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee Meeting next week in India. Culture Minister Francis Fonseca said that it's important that our culture can be celebrated at a global level.

"Yeah. Very, very, very important. That's, you know, I think, anytime we can celebrate our culture, and at the global level, there is a recognition of the importance of that, that that culture and the intangibility of that culture. I think it's an important, important event. So we certainly welcome that from NICH, the Ministry of Culture. We celebrate that, because it represents, you know, our rich diversity here in Belize."
