Last Wednesday March 31st, Belize's Chief Justice Dr. Abdulai Conteh began hearing a landmark lawsuit for constitutional redress brought by Maria Roches against Catholic School's management after she was `released' from her teaching job at a Roman Catholic primary school because she got pregnant out of wedlock.

After hearing two days of submissions, the Chief Justice has reserved judgment and should deliver a verdict later this month. We asked you to deliver your verdict on whether the Catholic School's management of Maria Roches was justified in an online poll.

Close to 500 of you had your say and an overwhelming 73% (358 Votes) said No - her dismissal was not justified and thus unconstitutional. The other 27% (130) said yes the dismissal was justified and the Catholic Church has the right to decide who can or can't teach in its schools.

We thank all those who voted and log on and get your vote on the record, as we want to know what you think in future web polls
