The University of the West Indies' Center for Management Development this evening held discussions with its faculty and staff as well as prospective students in Belize for a new program being introduced at UWI's Belize campus. The course is an 8 week diploma course in executive human resources management. Ann Wallace Director of the Center for Management Development in Barbados says that they are offering relevant training for a time of globalization.
Ann Wallace, UWI
"I am offering the interested persons in Belize training at diploma level in human resources management. The program is called the executive diploma in human resources management. With this globalization, our region needs to get itself fortified to take on whatever globalization brings and the best way to do that is to have people who suitably trained to deal with it. Now our program and our organization is a regional organization. Our programs are all regional programs, they have a focus on what's going on in the region and they also have a focus on what goes on outside of the region. But why we are bringing the program here in Belize, as we run in most of the countries of the OECS, is because it is our intention to ensure that our people in Caribbean get a high quality training without the cost that is associated with traveling out of the region."
The course is expected to come on stream in June of this year.
