How many prospective city councilors does it take to receive a donated bus? Well a whole lot! It seemed like almost the whole slate of 10 pup councilor candidates plus the Minister of Education were at Stella Maris this morning for the donation of a school bus specially designed for disabled persons. It has a wheelchair lift, and a number of special safety features for the Stella Maris students. A special bus, and a special political cluster bomb, but Reverend Tim Tam from the Word at Work Ministries, which has made many donations to Belizean organizations, said it's not about politics.
Rev. Tim Tam, Word At Work Ministries
"We are a Ministry support organization that is non partisan. We are not a red or blue but when the government, when its servants, give themselves to serve the poor and needy we want to do everything we can to support."
Hon. Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
" Today this bus I believe for the Stella Maris really represents an important achievement. These young people here, these young students at Stella Maris, are students with special needs and we have a special place in our hearts for them. Part of the Ministry of Education's action plan,. Part of our action plan over the next five years is really to focus on special education, trying to improve the quality of that education that we provide to these young people."
After that donation, tam went over to the KHMH where he donated equipment to perform laparoscopic procedures.
