Most schools have either career or open days but not Edward P. Yorke High. Today the school held a three in one career expo. The day featured exhibitions from students of their in subject areas, career presentations from professionals, and information booths from youth organizations. We stopped in and spoke to counselor Sandra Diaz Cadle.
Sandra Diaz Cadle,
"Today's event is to help our students to make informed career choices as well as for them to exhibit their accomplishments. This is a very necessary event. As you know, our second formers need to choose, when they go into third, which areas they want to go into and we believe events like these help them to make informed choices. We also have our fourth formers who are going to pursue further studies or go into the work field and so we think they need a taste of what is out there and I just want to share that this event is broken down into three segments. We have the students' exhibits where they exhibit different items in their subject areas. We also have the career presentations where we invite professionals from the field to come in and talk. So we believe that these are very important. And then of course we also have the booth displays."
