Madonna has Malawi, Angelina Jolie has Cambodia and now the Wish Foundation has the Belize River Valley. Wish is a new non profit organization that’s giving educational assistance to primary school students. Today they made their charter appearance at the oldest Creole village in Belize, More Tomorrow. We were there today.
Jacqueline Godwin Reporting,
More Tomorrow Government School – it’s a multi grade school with 45 students. But today was no regular first day of school for these youngsters as they got a back to school party complete with pinata and face paint sponsored by the Wish Foundation – Women Inspired to Serve and Help. It’s a new group of do gooders, who are making their first appearance in this new school year at a number of rural schools.
And while the party was just a bonus, really “WISH” is giving away school kits complete with notebooks and pencil cases.
Carla Ayres-Musa, Wish Foundation
“This back to school project, we have over two hundred kids that we’re

distributing to students in More Tomorrow, in Hattieville, and in Independence. We did some research and we got our information on a list of schools and we chose the top three schools that we thought would need the most help at this very moment.”
And more than just one–off philanthropy, there will also be follow up.
Carla Ayres-Musa,
“We decided that we would follow them for the year and at the end of the year we will see what their grades are like and we want to help these kids do well. We want to make sure that their committed to their work and committed to I guess following through with what their teachers and parents expect from them. So we decided that at the end of the year we’re going to come back, we’re going to look at their grades, we’re going to see what everything looks like and the kids who perform really well and make the honor roll are going to get an extra bonus in their kits next year when we redistribute the kits to the schools.”
Primary schools in Hattieville and Independence also received donations, but not the party.
