While Belize's schoolchildren were sitting at home waiting for an announcement of when it would be safe to re-open school during the pandemic, a group of students the Belize High School spent their entire summer participating in the 2020 edition of the First Global Challenge.

The Challenge is a yearly Olympics-style robotics competition, which is organized by the International First Committee Association. It promotes education in STEM or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

This year, there was a slight twist to the competition in which it was diversified for the number of challenges it presented to the participating students from different countries.

Team Belize who all came from Belize High School was made an impressive showing at the competition. Today, they held a small press to tell the public about what the experience was like. Here's what the Principal and her students had to say:
