That situation has yet to shift in 2021 and it's left many school-age children at a disadvantage and craving the instruction and interaction that they can only get in the classroom. We asked Dr. Diaz whether the falling numbers of active cases mean that school days are on the horizon. Here's how she answered that one.
Melissa Diaz - Acting Director of Health Services "Every country all over the world has placed in their own measures depending on their statistics and we are doing the same in Belize, with regards to our statistics the active cases as you quite rightly said, it's coming down and the taskforce we have met just a first meeting to just get ideas out and to throw out ideas about the safest way that schools can open so definitely it's not for me to say but it's not something that we're recommending in the near future at this point."
