For the UBAD Educational Foundation - they have been observing Emancipation Day for 9 years now. And while it is the state that made it a public and bank holiday - for UEF - the observance of the African contribution to global civilization is a daily activity.
YaYa MArin Coleman discussed her organization's pioneering perspective on the observance and the effort to keep raising consciousness:
This year, UEF is making African education a weekly observance with a Zoom community conversation about African people - co hosted by the Leo Bradley Library on the last Thursday of every month. This month's one is on August 25th.
