Vanilla, Sky’s the Limit

The Ministry of Investment has teamed up with the National Women's Commission, the Centro Escolar Mexico Junior College and the Belize Agro Forestry Development Services to launch a first of its kind Vanilla Cultivation Training Pilot Project.

26 women from the Corozal district were chosen to be trained on the growing and reaping of vanilla. The goal of this project is to increase opportunities for women in the rural area to generate more income.

The training consists of six sessions during which the women will learn to cut and prepare nursery bags, to identify pests and diseases, vie management, harvesting, curing, and grading of vanilla, and more.
