A school child tumbled out of the back door of a City Shuttle Bus yesterday - but, miraculously, was virtually unharmed. A release from the bus company says she only received minor scratches and bruises. This is contrary to some wild media reports that she was in a critical condition. And while it's lucky she only got minor injuries, it could have been far worse. So what went wrong? A release from the company says that as a practice the children and passengers frequently use the back door as their primary exit, since it is convenient when sitting at the back of the bus. The release says the driver constantly discourages this practice, but it persists nonetheless. They add that the back door of the buses are emergency exits and cannot be padlocked.
The company says that it made sure that the child received all necessary medical attention including diagnostics to confirm that the injuries received were not major.
