And, in other news...
Now that school is back in session the Ahmadiyya Muslim community is hoping to equip students with some future-proof skills. They're hosting a Computer Repair workshop, free of charge, and open to any individual who has an interest in learning how to fix computers, and use basic software. The President of the local organization shared more details with us today at one of the schools where they will be hosting the workshop:
Arslan Warraich, President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at

"So basically like the whole idea of this is because I know people get confused as to this is a religious organization what business do they have preparing computers. And the idea behind is that our faith has two parts to it. The first is the worship that we do to God and through that faith but then we also have to show through our examples that we are helping people. So that's the second part, right that we owe to people and in that this is what this falls under. That helping people who need assistance like what we do with Maude Williams as well. The plan is, and it's been postponed till Monday but the idea of this programme is that we want to show youth that don't have access to computers or laptops we want to show them an introductory level course so that they can get laptops and they can get computers and so also people who have laptops, a lot of them donated their old laptops but they don't know how to use it or how to fix it so it's usually just something very minor very small and you just don't know what it is."
JO-
"What are some of the basics that you guys are teaching?"
Arslan Warraich, President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at
"So the basic training that we are doing right now is Microsoft. We are trying to teach them, and like yesterday there are some people who don't even know how to turn on their computers and it's just like someone like a relative brought it in and they don't know."
"And the idea is whatever people need to do whatever level you are at we just want to just take one step and help you improve right so if you want to develop, the guys here have a lot of knowledge they have studied and they are very well equipped with it. But that doesn't mean oh my god it's so advanced so we want people to come out no matter how much knowledge you have of computers if you have a passion where you want to learn something you can come out and you will definitely learn a lot."
The workshop starts next week Monday.
