He Was A Patriot, An Educator, And Co-Designer Of Belizean Flag, Ines Sanchez Passes

Tonight, we note the passing of former Chief Education Officer Ines Sanchez Sr. The long time Belmopan resident passed away just before midnight last night in the capital City. He was 92 years old.

Sanchez was a teacher by profession and rose to the top of his ranks as Chief Education Officer. And while he touched many lives through teaching, his most enduring legacy is co-designing the Belizean flag. In 2014, he told his granddaughter Courtney Weatherburne about how they came up wit the design:

Sanchez was the father of four children. The details of his funeral have not yet been finalized.
