Two More Weeks for Lobster

As we mentioned, the lobster season has gotten an extension. It was scheduled to come to a close the day before - Sunday. However, the Minister of the Blue Economy, in consultation with the Fisheries Department, have extended this closure until February 28. The closure season will now run from March 1 to June 30 in any year. Any person found in possession of lobster during the closed season will be prosecuted. The Fisheries Department also reminds fishers that lobster traps should be removed from fishing grounds during the closed season. The department will be actively enforcing the removal of traps form the water during this period.
