A Lemonal land issue in the Belize River Valley has been developing for some time and, now, residents are letting their opposition be known. They have invited the media to visit the village tomorrow to learn more about their plight.

The matter at the very surface surrounds a huge tract of land in the village that is being cleared by a wealthy developer who operates in the area.

According to a letter written to the chairman of the village back in 2019, portion of land is about 700 acres.

That area exceeds the size of the entire village - which is only 500 acres. Still, the villagers have for decades used the lands immediately adjoining the village for farming and fishing purposes.

Former Resident Anna Banner Guy has written to the former Minister of Natural Resources, Hugo Patt, several times, as well as the mining department of the Ministry and the CEO of the Department of Environment.

Her requests have gone mostly unanswered and as such, she has asked the media to highlight the issue. That full story will air on tomorrow's newscast.
