Today is the International Day of the forest, a day designated by the United Nations to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of ecosystems worldwide.

It's a day that's especially important in Belize, a country that boasts 61.75% of forest cover with a 1% deforestation rate. And a country in which protected natural areas contribute over 20% of GDP.

And on this International Day of the forest Belize's Minister of Sustainable Development Orlando Habet spoke to us about forests, the threat of deforestation, and why planting a seed is is the most important thing you can do for the planet.
