As of January 20th, the Tower Hill factory has been operating at full capacity. Both of the factory's boilers are churning to produce sugar. This is after the season started with BSI only making use of one boiler, which reduced their milling and production capacity for the first few weeks.

That's because they wanted to complete the installation of their new air emission system to reduce the amount of ash that the factory emits into the atmosphere. In June of 2019. That's when the community of Chan Pine Ridge publicly mauled them for allegedly dumping copious quantities of ash on top of their homes, which negatively affected the breathable air for residents.

Well, 2 and a half months ago, the company unveiled the completion of their brand new, multi-million-dollar, water cooling towers. They announced that they would be cleaning up their air emissions also. That project is now 50% complete, and today, BSI/ASR invited the press to observe their new system.

Our News team was there for the tour, and Daniel Ortiz has that story:

This same air emission system will be installed on the second boiler during the months after this current crop season is concluded.

The company also shared drone footage of their new Water Cooling Tower in operation. That 9-million dollar facility is designed to ensure that the facilities effluent that is released into the New River is at an environmentally-friendly temperature.
