Back in November 2021, Former Chief Environmental Officer Martin Allegria quietly retired.

Well, tonight - some 4 months later - the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Management is announcing that they've finally identified Allegra's replacement. He's Anthony Mai who has been promoted to the post of Chief Environmental Officer of the Department of the Environment.

The government says that Mai has over 15 years of experience working with the department, most recently as the senior environmental officer.

We note that there had been some internal pushback against this promotion, over another more senior officer.
