And in other news, NEMO'S briefing to Cabinet about its response to Hurricane Lisa says that as of 15th of November, more than 35,000 tons of debris were removed from Belize City, and preliminary damage assessments reveal that 140 homes were destroyed and more than 1,300 properties sustained varying levels of damage.

Cabinet has recommended that a supplementary appropriations bill be presented for hurricane relief at the next sitting of the House. Cabinet also gave its approval for a supplementary appropriations bill to allocate funds to repair and upgrade the Supreme Court buildings in Belize City following the damage they sustained during the hurricane.

We note, however, that in the assessment from the Ministry of Natural Resources, they reported that it was actually 250 structures that were destroyed by the hurricane.

And on November 16th, Belize received a donation of relief supplies from the National Chamber of Commerce, Tourism, and Services of Chetumal. This donation included an assortment of hygiene products and groceries and was handed over to Ambassador Amalia Mai.
