In the past two months, the Ashcroft Alliance has written more letters to government offices than children write to Santa Claus at Christmas. And tonight - there is another attack - this time in the form of judicial review against The Department of the environment and NEAC.

Among other things, they are asking for a declaration that NEAC's decision approving environmental clearance for the Port of Magical Belize, quote, "in the absence of meaningful and substantial consultation with the Applicants and the public as required by the EPA and the EIA Regulations….is unlawful, null and void."

They also assert that NEAC's review and approval of Portico's environmental impact assessment was missing material information, and ask the court to also declare it null and void.

They also add that Waterloo has invested 10 million US dollars into the Waterloo project and should have been consulted by NEAC.

No date has been set for hearing, but the environmental approval given to the Port of Magical Belize was also being challenged in court on other grounds by Stake Bank Enterprises Limited.
